What is Homologation?
Daily Checkout New this year! Daily checkout in volunteer headquarters (location and hours below) is required of all volunteers when you leave the mountain. The checkout is conveniently located en route to the beer tent (see more under social events below)
Sideslip Crew Tryouts Saturday and Sunday, November 24th & 25th at the morning meeting we will ask for volunteers to try out for the sideslip crew.
Crampon Training New this year! The Race Dept. is working on putting together a Crampon Training Session to learn the proper and safe use of crampons. The scheduled dates right now are Sunday November 25th and Monday November 26th.

Team Photo New this year! The Official Talon Crew Team Photo will take place this year in the Finish Arena following the Awards Ceremony of the Men’s Downhill on Fri. Nov. 30. This will be for ALL registered Talon Crew Volunteers and Crew Chiefs. Please be wear your red jacket and STAY OUT OF THE FINISH ARENA UNTIL AFTER THE AWARDS CEREMONY IS COMPLETELY OVER. We will indicate when it is clear for you to enter.
Free Ski Tuning and Storage Ski tuning will be available from Beaver Creek Snowell once again. Crew is allowed two (2) tune-ups during the week. The crew at Snowell will make sure they are ready and waiting the following morning. Ski storage will also be provided at the base of the Centennial lift. Jeff Fagen is your favorite ski storage guy. Be sure to thank (tip) the people with whom you entrust your skis.

Volunteer HQ Volunteer Headquarters is in the Townsend Room of the Hyatt. To find our room, proceed up the first escalator and turn left. Signage will take you to the Hyatt and Townsend Room. Eligible volunteers may pick up their jackets, 6-day or 10-day gifts at HQ. Opening times are:
Fri 11/23 and Sat 11/24 12:00-6:00pm
Sun 11/25 7:00am to 6:00pm
Mon 11/26 to Sat Dec. 1 6:00am to 6:00pm
Sun Dec. 2 6:00am to 5:00pm
Phone Hotline/SMS Texts Each day during the event we will update our phone hotline (970.748.5959) and broadcast a text with news for the following day. This will be accomplished by 7:00 p.m. as determined by workload need or the Team Captains’ meeting.

Sunday, November 25th – In front of the Executive Offices next to the creek – BBQ at end of day for those who are working the first three days. Please note that the likely start time for this event is 3:00 pm.

Tuesday, November 27th at 5:30 pm – Dusty Boot, Beaver Creek – Race Crew Party Friends Welcome – Our Race Crew party will be held at the Dusty Boot in Beaver Creek Village. The cost will be $20.00. Tickets will be available at Uniform Distribution and at morning check-in.
Sunday December 2nd – Agave in Avon – Volunteer Party – A thank-you party will be held at the Agave in Avon from 6:00-9:00 PM. Food, drink, drawings and more. A must attend party.
Beer Tent – New this year! Each morning at check-in, you will receive vouchers good for two, free beers.

Vocabulary Quiz Answer
Homologation – a process by which key technical data of a hill is determined to be acceptable for a specific events. Course vertical drops, course widths, etc. are verified against race discipline requirements.
