Thanks for volunteering with the Talon Crew. This is a list of resources and practical information about your typical day on the Talon Crew as well as tips on how to prepare for your work with the Crew.

Once You Arrive

Before you even hit the slopes, you’ll first need to report to Volunteer HQ to pick up your credentials and uniform. The main Uniform Distribution will be announced shortly.

Logistical Information

Your day on-hill will start early, so here’s what you need to know before you go:

  • Maps – maps of the slopes and of Avon, CO
  • Communications – how to stay in touch and keep up-to-date with any last-minute changes
  • Transportation – special deals for volunteers as they arrive in the Vail Valley
  • Parking – expected commute times and parking information
  • Schedule – daily start times. You can use this link to sync the Talon Crew calendar to your personal Outlook Calendar, Google Calendar or iCalendar.
  • Individual schedule – double check your assigned days on-hill for 2015 AWSC
  • Check in / check out – required each day you work.
  • Ski storage – is available for Crew members at the ski-check at the base of Centennial lift. This is a self-service storage area and will be locked each night at 6pm.

  • Free Tunes – Volunteers receive two free tunes per week at Beaver Creek Sports (next to the escalator in Beaver Creek) and 60% off Race Tunes at Venture Sports. Coupons are available at Volunteer HQ and Beer Tent.
  • Partners – businesses who support the crew and offer discounts to crew members
  • Lodging – our housing forum, home stay program and hotel discounts available to crew members

  • Social calendar – we have many fun events during the races. Please join us!
  • Beer Tent – a thank you for your hard work at the end each day on-hill featuring local craft beer and rum
  • Blog – stories about you, what the athletes are saying about the crew and a recap of the slope side fun
  • Blog newsletter – sign you or your family up for stories and photos from the slopes
  • Photo album – volunteer photographers roam the slopes and post photos of crew members daily. Download free, high-quality images of your day.
  • Social media – we’re on Facebook. Crew members stay in touch and share the day’s photos here.
  • Shop – support the Crew and pick up some cool gear
